I BELIEVE YOU SHOULD:

Unapologetically
Be Yourself.

ABOUT LISA PATRICK, LCSW-R

Clients describe me as "down to earth", authentic, easy to talk to, direct, and compassionate in my approach.  I believe you already have everything within you to get through your challenges and I am here to help guide you. Our work together will be collaborative and always evolving.  I provide a safe, non-judgmental space for all clients to express themselves freely, guiding them to empowerment and finding their voice.

I worked in corporate tv production for 8 years. It was during this time that I discovered my true calling – helping others in need. I left the corporate world and attended Hunter College School of Social Work, and after graduating in 2010, I spent over 13 years working at Montefiore Medical Center and NYU Langone Health in NYC with a diverse adult population (18+) and their families.

In addition to working with acute illness, caregiver burnout, and grief, I enjoy working with health care workers, professionals, young adults in their 20’s and 30’s and clients experiencing life transitions, such as starting college, or adjusting to the role of becoming a new mom.

I am trauma informed and use a variety of therapeutic modalities, according to each individual client’s needs.

My style is warm and interactive.

Modalities

Click each for an explanation:

  • A type of talk therapy that focuses on revealing and addressing the unconscious thoughts and feelings that influence a person's behavior. This therapy approach recognizes the importance of past experiences, beliefs, and emotions in shaping current behavior patterns. The therapist works with the client to explore their hidden thoughts and emotions, and identify any unresolved conflicts or traumas that may be impacting their current life. The goal of psychodynamic therapy is to help the client develop a deeper understanding of their inner world, increase self-awareness and make long-lasting changes to their patterns of behavior.

  • A holistic approach to therapy refers to a therapeutic approach that considers the whole person and their environment rather than just focusing on a specific problem or symptom. It takes into account the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of a person's life, as well as their relationships, lifestyle, and cultural context.

  • Internal Family Systems therapy is a non-pathologizing approach to psychotherapy. It emphasizes the natural multiplicity of the mind. The grounding assumption is that there are no bad parts, only parts forced into bad roles. When a client learns how to access Self, they can then heal their wounded parts.

  • A form of therapy that focuses on the patient's relationships with others and how they impact their emotional and mental well-being. This type of therapy often involves exploring past and current relationships, patterns of behavior, and communication styles to gain insight into underlying issues and find ways to improve interpersonal functioning. The therapist works collaboratively with the patient to identify sources of distress and develop strategies for managing and resolving conflicts in relationships. Interpersonal psychoanalysis is based on the theories of psychodynamic psychology, which emphasizes the importance of early childhood experiences and unconscious motivations in shaping adult behavior.

  • A type of talk therapy that focuses on improving communication and relationships between individuals. It is designed to help people improve their interpersonal skills, resolve interpersonal conflicts, and cope with emotional and relationship problems. The therapy typically involves exploring the individual's relationships with others, identifying negative patterns in those relationships, and developing strategies for improving communication and resolving conflicts. IPT is often used to treat depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions, but it can also be helpful for anyone who is struggling with significant relationship issues.
